No, you will get into shape as you train. We have a series of exercises that you will learn as you progress through the ranking system which will enable you to perform the all the self defense techniques. If everyone waited until they were in "perfect" shape to join jiu-jitsu, no one would start!

We focus on three things that are not comonly focused on at other Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Schools. 1. Safety: Most "BJJ" schools are extremely competition driven, which is not a bad thing, if that's what you're looking for. The issue that arrises from this type of focus, is a high occurance rate of injury. Apex Jiu Jitsu Academy focuses on safety through a unique approach in its teaching methodologies. 2. Curriculum. We offer a fully structured curriculum from white belt all the way to black belt. 3. Street Effectiveness: In the Fundamental class, our primarily focus is on street effective jiu-jitsu.

Two classes per week are the recommended minimum. As you progress through the ranks you may choose to train more often, 3 - 5 days a week. Either way, a little training is far better than no training at all.

It takes approximately 8 to 10 years to reach black belt with a high level of dedication. But, as we always say, don't worry about the belt, enjoy the journey.
